Brief_ To design and produce three theatre production posters for the Sage Gateshead. | Solution_An Inspector Calls- Inspired by dot-to-dots, a bold vector graphic theatre poster. Linking the overall dark tone of the play, and the recurring theme of death, with the concept of piecing together the puzzle, in this case, connecting all the dots; surrounding the suicide of a young woman. Written by Dylan Thomas, Under Milk Wood invites the audience to listen to the dreams and innermost thoughts of the inhabitants of an imaginary small welsh village. My Poster Design based on brainwave patterns during sleep cycles, specifically REM sleep, when dreams occur. They shoot horses don't they- a play based a dance marathons which took place in 1930s America, where contestants would dance endlessly for days in order to win prize money, set at a time of great depression, where exploitation of self worth is in the name of entreatment. My poster plays on the idea of a carousel spinning endlessly coupled with silhouettes dancing for entertainment. |
